Flew up to, and back from, Aberdeen yesterday.
Flight arrived from SOU with 17 and 5 got off. Another 12 joined, so 24 up to ABZ. (Morning Saab flight)
Evening flight back (J41) was 12 pax of which 8 of us disembarked at LPL.
Good service both ways - nice to be treated as a passenger and not like cattle.

This appears reasonable for the start of the service, particularly as the first advertising for the flight I have seen was this morning (although to be fair it was impressive in the Daily Post). Hopefully we can retain (and hopefully expand in the future) these domestic links.

The airport does sponsor the weather forecast on what was Century radio, now Real radio, which I think is Manchester based, and they feature all of the routes on different buletins.
I have heard the Aberdeen & Southampton routes mentioned on there, and I do know from people that I deal with that they learn about the Liverpool routes from this source.

Notice that Eastern is now offering a connection from LPL to Stavanger, via ABZ. This adds to the existing connection options to Wick and Stornoway

Better late than never.....flew with Eastern on 14th August down to Southampton on the 0810 flight.......I was the only passenger who joined at Liverpool and nobody got off from Aberdeen, 11 of us in total left the Saab at Southampton.
I must comment that the customer experience from Eastern was marvelous, both on the ground and in the air.

Loads seem a bit low from the last few comments. Does anyone know how they have been doing recently?

You are asking the question for what is, for all airlines, the slack period. School holidays will affect the numbers flying. Now that business community has given up its bucket and spade obligations all airlines will be looking for normal pay loads.

Any update on hwo the ABZ and SOU services is doing? What were the loads like in Jul and Aug? According to the CAA stats for July Aberdeen carried 905 which is an average of 7.5 per flight and Southampton carried 819 an average of 6.8 per flight but remember there are transit passengers on these flights as well so the onboard figure will be higher. July and August are not traditional business months so I would expect September to be better.

I would imagine thats is close to break even or better, also we have to remember that two a/c types are used so yield is therfore not easy to estimate.

Looks like Eastern re-jigging schedule for winter.
Instead of two afternoon transit flights to each destination one return service to ABZ on the S2000 and a return service to SOU on the J41 the morning service stays the same. So a reduction in flights but probably an increase in seats avail from LPL. Commencing 26th OCT.

Have just tried through the airport website in book flights section to reserve seats to Aberdeen but cant find Aberdeen or Southampton in the United Kingdom drop down menue when you get redirected to the airport direct travel website
Had to go to the Eastern website independantly - why is the airport site not showing Eastern flights to book or am i doing something wrong

harry c - response to your query:
The matter you raised has been brought to the attention of Liverpool Airport management. They have found the reason for the error (there is a contractual change underway in relation to the booking system) and expect it to be corrected within a few days.
I have been asked to pass on thanks for identifying the matter
