For what it's worth, the June edition of the respected Manchester based publication North West Business Insider News includes the following quote given to them just 3 weeks ago:
"Like that red football team in the city, Manchester Airport thinks it's god's gift to airports but I'm not honoured to be flying with them." MICHAEL O'LEARY, RYANAIR (INSIDER NEWS, 11 May 2011)
Interesting. Make what you will of that!

I dont think the MOL comments should be taken seriously.
1) If MAN is so bad, why is he paying £6 per pax at the present time, compared to the £3 he said was 'too expensive' last time. It seems he needs MAN more than MAN needs him. With MAN having the links it needs from other based units of RYR, then the 7 based easyjet units, then jet2, Monarch, Air Berlin, Germanwings, Flybe and so on, MAN is no longer lacking the Loco's it did in the past.
2)I think the comments are to unearth insecurities to get a better deal. His comments were made at LBA. I could see him adding more routes to MAN, stating 'now travellers need not go to LPL/LBA for cheaper fares' The week after, see the Liverpool echo stating the same as he did at LBA. Its all about getting the airport operators worried, to knock money off the airport fees and get the better deal.

I can't unerstand anyone mentioning rivalry with Manchester and football. After all no one can come back in a European cup final from 3-1 down can they? NOT UNLESS YOU ARE LIVERPOOL.LOL Sorry to rub salt in a festering wound but it has to be said. Lets hope that we can get another European lo cost airline interested--we have Wizzair and surely something like that can be repeated. AND the new owners MIGHT just find some clients from across the pond--it is their special area, One thing is certain---our overall passenger figures are rising and that always bodes well for the future whatever airlines come or choose not to. Pity Eastern don't want to connect us up to their French bases and routes.Could surely be good for the holidaY trade--just a thought.

easyJet, this week, announced in travelmole that they will be adding an extra aircraft at Manchester next year are presently evaluating new routes. No mention of any expansion at Liverpool.
I think a good fit for Livepool would be Norwegian/Iceland Express!
Wizz Air could also expand but, they need to raise their profile in the UK/local market as well as they do in the East European Market!

Oh god, Iceland express. Best not to worry about getting them, seem to have a habit of announcing new UK/Ire routes but never running them. BHX/DUB/BFS, all announced never run. Only EDI this year got through the net.
Norweigan, now that could work...

Im always a little sceptical when I see statments like that of Easy Jet boss reassuring liverpool despite expansion of MAN,what are we to get, another increase to the IOM or Jersey.Yes our figures are rising, but we need to have more attractive routes say to North Africa, more to the greek islands or are these reserved for MAN
