Not sure if this is the right location for this snippet or not . I was at LFS today 20th and chatting to a pilot who told me he had sold his share in the Chippy and had bought himself the Harvard which is presently based at a North Wales Farm, and curently owned by Anthony Hodgson who flys the local Spitfire. Not sure when it will be arriving and be based at LPJL.

Thanks for the info, Biggles. Probably best moved to the EGGP General Aviation section of the board, which was set up for news such as this about residents etc (but which seems to be used for anything but!) Happy birthday btw Cheers, Dave

A friend of mine saw it flying today and asked if Keenair owned it. Perhaps not if its the guy who part owned the Chippy or was Mr Keen a part owner in that too. Any ideas on ownership anyone Steve

www.caa.co.uk and follow link to data-base G-INFO, shows that since 2/09 the aircraft has been registered to a Paul Squires of Chorley. As stated earlier on this thread, this aircraft (G-TXAN/FX301) is the former G-JUDY/FX301 owned for a good number of years by Anthony Hodgson and kept as his Bryn Gwyn Bach airstrip beside the A55. Since arrival at Liverpool, the aircraft is kept in the Keenair hangar. There have been other Texans/Harvards based at Liverpool over the years. Jim Keen for some time owned G-BHTH in blue/yellow US Navy markings as 2807. More recently, in the period when there was no GA hangarage at Liverpool, an all yellow RCAF schemed aircraft was kept here. Any others ?

Thanks Carmedic and Viscount.
Sorry for the late reply. I've been very busy over the past few weeks and only just been able to catch up with the newer posts.

Hey guys.. nice to see someone finally has pics of the Texan up!! Couldn't wait to get a flight in this.. unfortunately even as an ex worker for Keenair/LFS, i might have to pay =( but it's all worth it.. as for the time with no hangarage for them when they moved from north to south on the GA, the all yellow aircraft in US Navy scheme was the Boeing Stearman, which i believe is still there. Goes under reg G-BRUJ. The guy who owned the chippy i dont know but Martin Keen did have part ownership. The red chippy was owned by a guy who goes by the name N. Bordessa with the Barton Chipmunk Association.

Hate to disagree, especially with a former Keenair employee. Liverpool based Texan/Harvards have been: G-BHTH arrived 16.4.80 in a crate from the USA (N2807G). First flight in UK 1.8.80. No UK regn carried externaly. All over midnight blue with serial NAVY 2807 a SNJ-7 coded V-103 of VF-111. Active with Mr Keen until sold and departed to Wellesbourne 8.3.86. Been with a number of owners since, and on 22.6.05 re-registered G-TEXN. Still in US Navy marks but in a mid-blue scheme and simpler colours as 3072 coded 72. G-JUDY/FX301 Arrived Liverpool 14.10.89 from Ipswich on purchase by A.A.Hodgson. Hangared with Keenair. Departed to Anthony's home farm-strip at Bryngwyn Bach 28.4.90. G-BSBG arrived from Thruxton 12.2.95. No UK regn carried externally, painted in RCAF yellow overall with serial 10920. and full Canadian national markings. Registered to Mr A.P.St.John. Kept on southern airfield, parked with the GA outside - mainly on grass. This was before the South Airfield hangars were erected in 2000. Suspect the owner was allied to Deltair or CATS rather than Keenair. Have no recall of it ever going onto the northern airfield and Keenair Hangar No.4 (which could be why the previous postee does not remember it). Left for Tattenhill 29.11.99, however is still registered to A.P.St.John of Warrington, and continues in RCAF markings. G-TXAN/FX301 (formerly G-JUDY) arrived late May 2009 from Bryn Gwyn Bach via Hawarden. No external UK regn carried. RAF post-war training silver overall with yellow T-bands as FX301. Hangars with Keenair, but is privately owned. The Stearman refered to, G-BRUJ (UK regn not carried externally) and flies in US period military markings as 6136/205. Arrived Liverpool 27.4.93 by road. A display by this aircraft marked the end of aviation on the North Airfield summer 2000, when Keenair's new south airfield hangar had been completed. Aircraft imported by a Staverton based company 1990. Registered to Mitchell Walker 16.4.94 to 18.11.04, and since then Rohan Hughes, both owners with Liverpool addresses. The Liverpool resident Chipmunk G-BCSL has recently been resprayed into a smart gloss black scheme with RAF markings - in a style similar to the Tucano of today. Very smart it looks too. G-BCSL was registered to Jalawain Ltd t/a Barton Chipmunk Flyers 15.2.80, however on 6.8.03 ownership changed to Chipmunk Flyers Ltd - but using the same Liverpool address. Added on edit: Many thanks to negative g on the next post for adding/correcting my recollections re G-BSBG. It was probably when the Deltair hangar was vacated that the aircraft moved to sit outside on the grass with the GA on the south airfield. Can anyone confirm that this aircraft lived at Manchester Airport before (after?) being resident at Liverpool ? Owner details/dates are from www.caa.co.uk follow links to G-INFO section and type in specific registration required.

From my mind I think the Stearman owner or at least one of them has or still does own the Independant Landrover Spares place not far from the airport ?
