As I said it cant be that small as they spend the money here promoting it.
Talking about going to the wall their Bergamo service has no been wiped from the system.

They spend money advertising in all of the towns and cities in the north, Liverpool is by no means a special case...
Bergamo will be replaced, its a drop in the ocean. Hardly a sign of MAN going to the wall is it?
I dont understand your attitude towards MAN. LPL has done an amazing job of attracting and retaining the two largest low cost airlines in Europe, and arguably has an impressive number of destinations on offer for a regional airport. So wheres the problem?

They spend money advertising in all of the towns and cities in the north, Liverpool is by no means a special case... Nobody says it is, Jet2 advertise in the city because they get a return in the form of passengers buying tickets. If they didnt get that then they wouldnt advertise.

Im not going to pick at your post LPL, but you worded it in such a way that MANs viability rests on the population of Liverpool. It is a pointless debate anyway.
Jet2 are not interested in LPL, rumours of Monarch but they will remain just that unless an official announcement is made. I remain skeptical of this rumour however.
As I said before, management at LPL should focus on the customer experience, both for airlines and passengers. They will likely also be trying to maximise the potential of the current operators and inevitably talking to others about possibilities, but there is only a finite number of routes and airlines that LPL can possibly hope to support. I would argue that the era of large scale growth at LPL is over, in favour of perhaps small growth by non-based operators to fill in the gaps.

Whilst the debate has been raging since RYR announcement this week,and of course EZY having a base there,I can understand the anger and frustration that this has evoked,the debate has been lively and very interesting,but what I need to know is what is VAS doing,are they sitting on their hands waiting for airlines to come here?Or are they out searching for new customers,if the trend carries on i.e.airlines reducing services,pulling out etc were does that leave the once "fastest growing regional airport"
VAS need to look at their business plan pretty quickly before there is nothing left here,we cannot afford airlines to be leaving here big or small,maybe RYR and EZY are not going to leave LPL,they have promised new routes but to where?Newquay!!VAS need to radicalise ther operating methods,and to discuss with RYR and EZY their future plane here before it is to late

Charlie, have you considered that VAS are in it to turn the airports group into a profitable operation? Also that the passenger side of things may not be so high up on the list of priorities at the moment? Not necessarily a bad move by the management, not that they will be neglecting the incumbent operators at all, but perhaps are more focussed on consolidation and smaller growth now.
As I said, there is only a finite number of routes that LPL could hope to support.

Yes Cess I agree with you to a point,it would help though if VAS make some kind of statement regarding what they have in mind,one hopes that they are still mindful of the incumbent operators,I just wonder if when you say"there is only a finite number of routes that LPL could hope to support"what is to say that that argument is flawed and that expansion is there and could be generated.

Which routes would you suggest that aren't currently offered at LPL?
As for a statement, I wouldn't think that likely. You will of course get the usual MD rhetoric of 'talking to a number of airlines', but in reality much of what gets discussed will rarely travel beyond the walls of the boardroom...

Why are people so anxious – Liverpool is one of the top ten airports in the UK. Its 2011 not 1991. It’s a great airport for LoCo’s and their passengers. There is always room for improvement but come on guys every airport in the UK is criticized at some point for check in, security and immigration delays. Its fantastic that people have more choice and low fares and airports like Liverpool lead the way. The future is bright and with a new generation of aircraft and new airline business models there are opportunities to grow. I am in KL today and there is massive interest in Liverpool and adverts every 5 minutes about it as a tourist destination!

My thoughts were mainly the vulnerability on 2 large LoCos....Ryanair particularly tends to drop airports at a drop of a hat, they have no loyalty. Easyjet I would think have a few more scruples.
