I wonder if the extended in flight refueling probe was an error on the pre TO check list. Never seen that before a departure.
Superb shots, I like the RYR/Tornado mix as my favourite.

Beemer has, for now omitted the tag that the above post are photos taken by Viscount.
They are from Pickerings Pasture, where possibly as many as 500 people had gathered along the riverfront. Most, including myself were taken unawares as they came from the west over the sewerage farm trees. Well held formation by the 9, with Red 10 caught over to the south of the main formation.
I spread the word as much as I could re the Vulcan, and would estimate 150 or so waited. Being slower and in view for longer as it overflew the bridge, it was possibly the more impressive. Thank goodness it did not go tech, or I might have been lynched at the gates when leaving for time wasting! Beemer has placed my Vulcan shots on a thread on 'Through the Zone' section.
Nice afternoon of photo opportunities and not just at the airport either.

Here's a video of Saturday's Tornado departure for the show.
A couple more will be uploaded tomorrow (after they have been processed)
Cheers, icebreaker

I'm delighted to see so many excellent photos of the Vulcan over The Runcorn Bridge/ LJLA/ Mersey and Liver Building. Captain Martin Withers certainly did a superb job with 'salutes' to The Bridge, LJLA and The Liver Building. Very many thanks to him for so enthusiastically accepting my invitation to show off the aircraft over Merseyside. His comment before the flight was, "Well we do like to please!" You certainly did that Martin! .....And after I had thanked Martin, he said, "It seemed to work well, we enjoyed it and the weather was superb. Pleased to be able to oblige......." You may just be wondering why pre-flight publicity of the salutes was, sadly, very restricted. That was simply because the 'salutes' had to be part of positioning for the display at Southport. Prior notification would have constituted 'displays' and involved much red tape and cost. Do remember that the return of the Vulcan to flying and its continued display activity depends on voluntary help and donations from supporters. If you would like to like to know more about the project and/or support the, "Vulcan to the Sky", work, do look at: www.vulcantothesky.org/ Keith H.

Sorry to be a pedant Viscount - but I just can't help it. It is the sewage farm not the sewerage farm. sewerage is the collective name for the pipes which carry the Sewage. Mind you the photos are good. Ray
