Liverpool Airport boss leaves

Liverpool Airport director Andy Gower has left the company, the Daily Post reports. Craig Richmond, chief executive of airport owner Peel Airports, confirmed Mr Gower’s departure and said they hope to have a new director in place by September.

Mr Richmond, who replaced former chief executive Mark Whitworth when Vancouver Airport Services took a 65% stake in Peel Airports in July 2010, said: ‘Andy has left us, it was time for him to move on. It was purely his decision and we leave on amicable terms. I wish Andy all the best and it was good working with him.’

The news comes amid a background of pay disputes that unions claim threaten to close the airport during the busy summer holiday season. GMB workers employed by Peel Airports, ServisAir and Securitas have been seeking improved pay deals.

'Dead wood' is moved sideways into posts where they can do little harm, good people find better jobs elsewhere, where their talents will be appreciated by the employer and put to most effective use.

All depends on your viewpoint.

I agree with Viscount. It strikes me that we, the outside observers, are not in a position to criticise people we only know of at a distance. We are in no position to comment on their day-to-day performance. Vancouver must have a different business philosophy through which they believe they can be more effective. Leaner and more efficient may be their policy. Let's not criticise individuals who are effected by this policy.

Thank goodness liverpoolman1 and Viscount have introduced some decency into this thread. I feel the comments by Jake3 on recent staff changes at LJLA were extremely offensive and that they should be withdrawn and removed forthwith.

I don't want to go in to detail about my experience's at LJLA but the stab wounds in my back took a long time to heal.
