Confirmed CAA scheduled flight stats for Liverpool in June 2011.
Pax total - 486751 (2011), 465149 (2010), 5% (diff)
Number of available seats by airline - EZY 309120, FR 291438, KLM 14400, Wizz 15480, flyBE 31512, Eastern ?, total 661950
Number of routes served - 65 (2011), 66 (2010), -2% (diff)
Breakdown of number of routes served by airline - EZY 27, FR 40, KLM 1, Wizz 3, flyBE 2, Eastern 2
Number of flights scheduled - 4180
Average load factor for all flights - 74%
Average pax loading per flight - 116
Note, I have presumed every flight scheduled departed/arrived and that no cancellations have been taken into account.
The Eastern routes of Aberdeen and Southampton have missing data, so they will not be accurate.
The Belfast City route figures are still skewed with having the effect of changing from FR 738's to the flyBE Dash's.
On first scan there doesnt look like anymore suspicious figures although some routes do look very high. For example Bodrum with 97% load factor.

Thanks LPL, makes interesting reading, can I ask though looking at some flights above, AMSTERDAM 68% LONDONDERRY 67% BRUSSELS 67% TOULON 65% CARCASSONNE 65% MAHON 64% BORDEAUX 64% DUBLIN 63% SHANNON 59% CORK 58% BELFAST CITY 55% ISLE OF MAN 54% BELFAST INT 52% KNOCK 47%
the load factors don't look to impressive. Obviously the main ones , Amsterdam, Isle of man etc i presume are low due to the number of flights that serve that route, however to the flights that for instance only operate a couple of times a week, at what point do they become non viable. Are the load factors below 70% classed as good ?

Basically the airlines will say a route will become unviable when it doesnt produce the yield that they are after.
That reason will be used as it cant be verified, especially us amateurs, because we dont have access to the money data the airlines have.
Just for another guide for the above stats the June airline network load factors are: Ryanair 84% and KLM (Europe) is 78%. Easyjet havent as yet put up its June figures for some reason. Also flyBE and Wizz dont provide that figure as far as I can see.
In some ways the Ireland routes maybe seen as a filler and is used to fill a gap of a couple of hours in the schedules. The Dublin route is hit and miss though because the timings are all over the place.
The routes to Toulon (also a new route), Carcassonne, Mahon and Bordeaux are holiday routes and without the school summer holidays starting the extra 30 pax needed to get the stat into the 80%+ plus bracket will be that much harder to achieve.
