Ah, thanks calflier. I wasn't sure whether the work ever came off. I understood they were bringing it into Barrow (as they do now), hence the use of Walney Island, flying into the airfield at Dounreay and flying offshore for obvious reasons, but presumably the plans changed.
I did hear that the govt. and the UKAEA considered the whole operation too dangerous, and that is why it was dropped. No doubt Emerald would have picked it up if it was available.

Seem to remember the first flight may have been in an Argosy of ABC,whilst UV was being converted,although I am now not sure about that,I am also sure that cargo came from Risley UKAEA,but I think you are correct about the flights being transferred to Barrow,Walney island,I also remember a demo involving a Class 37/40 loco being crashed by remote control into concrete blocks with a UKAEA container on board,as a test,as a large amount of this type of cargo was also going by rail,I was hoping a similar test involving an aircraft, would not be considered!

Good bit of research there 'Cityflyer', makes interesting reading. Although not involved with the ATP fleet, i did hear that the Biman machines proved troublesome?

Have you got the same detailed histories of the '748 fleet. That certainly would be of interest to me. On the walk arounds i often noticed chipped paint work on the fuselage revealing another scheme beneath and wondered what its history was. I did have a basic idea of the fleets past but nothing as detailed as your ATP work.

Although I dont know how authentic it is, the janes title may have been added later through Photoshop

It has been around the block a few times, Cityliner.

Interesting histories and photos Cityflyer, brings back many memories of their various visits to the IOM.

Just one correction concerning G-JEMC, which you have recorded as "stored on the IOM" in 2006. "Stored" is a bit of poetic licence? It was actually arrested for non-payment of outstanding Emerald freight aircraft landing and parking fees, on the day that Emerald ceased trading, and being the only Emerald aircraft present at that time. It then remained on the IOM for nearly 18 months, and was eventually advertised in the local press, stating the intention of selling it in lieu of unpaid charges. That finally prompted Emerald's Administrators to settle the considerable amount owing, and it was released to them. It had been maintained and its engines run during its time impounded, but even so the ferry crew took the prudent step of an undercarraige-down ferry to Blackpool.

Regarding SD330 G-LEDN, it did fly a daily freight service to the IOM circa 1989-90 on behalf of Janes, but as far as I know it never wore "Janes" titles. Neither did the Dakota or Heralds that Janes used at that time. So I think that you might be correct in assuming that 'photoshop' has been at work.
