A further air-to-ground photo of Emerald's operations at Liverpool, as seen on 7th June 1997 en route to Caernarfon in G-GYAV. The open large freight door is very evident on G-BIUV. The others being G-ATMI (Reed Avn cols), G-AYIM (left) and G-OJEM (behind), all readable on the original print. This one is a little earlier, 27th June 1993, only a month after Janes Aviation had moved to Liverpool Airport, and 3 months before renamed as Emerald Airways. Here 4 of their 7 HS.748 aircraft at the time. G-ATMI in Reed scheme and titles, G-BPDA in white with the red cheatline and two white aircraft, on what, at the time, was still a relatively small apron at Liverpool Airport.

There's a photo of an Emerald 748 with an engine fire that appears 3mins into this video of prangs. Is it G-OJEM? It's not X-rated but anyone under 18 shouldn't be looking at the balloon at the end . www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZJoEACM6D8

I seem to remember the reg of the '748 involved in the incident at Ronaldsway was G-ATMJ. It was rebuilt with parts from the ex CAA aircraft. It happened on an engineering ground run.
Cheers

Yes, the starboard engine fire incident at Ronaldsway, IoM was G-ATMJ and happened on 11th April 2002, with the aircraft out of service until 21st November 2002 while repaired at IoM and Blackpool. Brief information on a table on post #5 'Aircraft out of service'. A little more detail in the main text of post #2 in the paragraphs covering 2002.

Thanks for letting me know guys. Strange that they fixed it rather than breaking it up. Given her age, that might not have been economically viable but then again they were the ones doing the maths. Perhaps it was done through using using parts from either G-AVXI or XJ that were parted out a few months earlier. Seem to recall the latter two as Liverpool regulars in Board of Trade, red and black, livery.

During research that I was doing, I came across another Emerald Aircraft, well at least its Cockpit It is either G-SSWM or G-SSWR Shorts SD.3-60. Can anyone Identify which one it is. Both Aircraft were scrapped @ Coventry It il loacted at the Delph Diving centre near Eccleston which also has a Jet Provost located 16 Meters under water
