Not so sure about that...they often leave aircraft lying around at MAN for large parts of the day. The latest CAA stats only cover the period for the quarter to december 2008 when to be fair all airlines had cut back on their flying programme. Average utilisation though was only about 4.5 hours per day for their '737 fleet. That compared to over 8 for EZY's '737s. Anyway, whose to say the aircraft would be Liverpool based? Might not it operate in on a 'W' pattern... For a QC to operate freight flights it will almost certainly be at night. But to operate a W pattern by definition it will not be at Liverpool during the night, it will be back at its base wherever that maybe.

You're the one making the assumption it would be a QC, on what basis I and many others no doubt have no idea....

My post was in answer to calfliers who brought QC aircraft into the mix. a bit more likely if they got a freight contract and used a QC aircraft for instance

I think Calflier is right that it's just a ploy to get better rates at MAN. Flybe promised all sorts of routes when they started and soon retrenched back to MAN having made their point. MAN at the moment is fighting for everything they can get, gone are the days when they only wanted full service airlines.

there may be some thing in the rumour, but not sure it will be from lpl. there are moves at another north west airport to start passenger flights. Things will get moving in the next 12 months wait and see....

I think Calflier is right that it's just a ploy to get better rates at MAN. Perhaps not. LJLA is an up and coming airport and one of the fastest growing in Europe. Jet2 and other MAN operating airlines may simply be covering their own backs. If they don't operate from LJLA then someone else will and this could reduce their market share within the North West region. Remember, it matters not who operates routes from Liverpool so long as they get operated. With regard to forcing MAN into providing lower costs, think again. It is extremely expensive for an airline to operate at two airports within the same region. Therefore, your reference to FlyBe retrenching to MAN will have been based on these costs together with a lack of competition on their North West region routes at that time. This airline only flies into Liverpool from the IOM due to customer demand, by satisfying this they are keeping would be competitors out. Therefore, they will be keeping a very close eye on the Eastern Airways operation. So don't be surprised if they make a comeback on their former routes.

Is it also being renamed Chester West or something!

With the rumours of a new airline mentioned around the eastern announcements it could obviously be a reference to this. However personally im still holding out for Air Berlin because i think that would be a fantastic route gap filler for the airport

I see that Jet2 are rumoured on PPRUNE to be announcing a new airport to fly from this week.
A poster on there reckons it maybe Norwich due to the company PA-31 flying in there last week!
Appears far fetched seeing as flybe quickly started routes from there not so long ago and just as quickly stopped them.

Just returned from Lanzarote last night, into MAN with TCX. Rumour with some expatriate scousers living out there is that Jet2 may start an LPL - ACE route shortly. Unfortunately, a reduction in existing ACE - UK flights appeared apparent, Thursday being the usual "UK day" but flights looked to be well down on previous years. It appears the rumour of the route is true but its not with Jet2. EasyJet are to announce they are to fly exLiverpool to Lanzarote and Fueteventura from this winter. They will use the A320, its not yet clear if this aircraft is to be based.in addition to/as well as what we have now at Liverpool.
