Raided my Dads photographs at the weekend and found this shot at Blackpool - Mid 80's?? Anyone know any details about it? Ian

Very nice Turbo-Mallard, Canadian civil (?) by the look of it.
I worked there from early 1983 to early 1985, and definately didn't see it, or hear anyone mention it.
Some clues in the background include a 'scud launcher' i.e. mobile cargo loader - those probably didn't appear at Blackpool until the Winter of 83/84, when Reed Aviation started weekend newspaper flights. Also there are blue Servisair steps, and they are clearly for a tall passenger aircraft (737 Charters?), rather than the usual commuter types. The nearer Fire vehicle looks like the more modern one which joined in 83/84.
The Union Flag is being flown at half-mast, so someone has just died. I wonder if it might be my replacement, who sadly suffered a heart attack not long after joining the airport. If so, then the date could be mid-1985, and almost certainly after I left in early 1985.
Hope that this helps ....

And I've just found it on "Airliners.net".
It is C-FUOT c/n J-34 photographed twice at Prestwick/Glasgow during what are described as "frequent visits to Scotland" in the late 80's. One photo is dated 27 August 1989.
