You are so right about how small the entrance door is. I recall a Dan-Air one at Liverpool about 40 years ago and as a young boy with my nose pressed up against the fence someone, I guess security, asked if I would like to look on board and took me on the apron and up the access steps to go on, even at that age having to duck to go in. This all fuelled my passion for aviation, an area I have worked in for all my life, and sadly an opportunity that would never happen nowadays to fuel a young mind. Bob

Many thanks for the reply to my query above - very much appreciated. I am gradually piecing together the evidence with a special focus now on G-APDK and DO.

In order to 'bump-up' this now revitalised thread, thought I would try this colour print where the colours had altered as a black & white. Very much improved, a 'classic' balcony view of an equally 'classic' aircraft at Liverpool Airport. Great nostalgia. XR395 is not recorded as having visited in the '60s and just the once in the '70s decade, so this shot is almost certainly Sunday 2nd July 1972 with the aircraft, along with a Hercules taking troops out to Gutersloh for an exercise. This thread in general is now been much improved and brought back to life. Although the original posts listing all the visits to Liverpool Airport required no updating, the images mostly needed replacing thanks to Photobucket's obscuring watermark. The images have been replaced in May 2023 and the opportunity taken to add some fresh ones too. At the time of the revitalising of this thread in May 2023, the 'hits' counter shows 6,265 visits since the original post in March 2012.
