On my recent trip round Eastern Europe as was! I found this old AEC outside a McDonalds in Budapest. It had London Transport RT669 on the side, it's obviously not an AEC Regent 3 as RT's are, and I think it's either an AEC Regent 5 or an AEC Renown. If anyone can shed light on it i'd be grateful. I did have a look in the cab etc but was unable to find a chassis number or anything of note on it! Bob Attachments:

See you pick the easy ones Bob ;D Spent ages on this but all I can find is a blurred photo with the last part of the registration which is 950F. So it's a 1967/8 model which rules a bridgemaster out but still leaves your suggestions of a Regent 5 or Renown. As it's a front entrance I'd go with the Renown. If your searching, the Renown is also known as the AEC 590. If you can narrow down the area of Budapest in which you saw it, you might be able to see older photo's of her with the original registration plate. Sorry I can't be of more help but you could ask a question on this site. If nothing else, they would be pleased to know of it's existence. middx.net/aec/

Ste, thanks for the info, and with the 950F i've done some digging and think, well, it's a good chance that it's MFN950F which is an ex East Kent Regent V. There's plenty of pics of it on the net as it was in the mid 80's in Dover. So, we could have found out it's true ID! Thanks again and i'll also go onto that site and see if I can update them re it's location etc.
PS as an aside I also saw what appeared to be an ex Blackpool Leyland PD3 in Budapest in a yard about a mile or two from the Regent! And also an ECW bodied Bristol FLF whilst on the train between Dresden and Prague! plenty of old UK buses gracing the streets of Europe!

This seems an unfair exchange we get the vacating population and they get our old buses

Cant beat a good ECW bodied FLF. We had one up at Kirkby for repaint into Tilling green and it looked superb

Cracking pic of the FLF, remember them fondly from my youth getting the Crosvilles to school at 'the rocket'!
The FLF I saw on the German/Czech border was still in what seemed to be NBC Poppy Red, I have some digging on the net but there's that many of them in continental Europe so far I've not come up with it's reg.
The VR series 3 has always been my fave older bus, and I had the pleasure of visiting the old ECW factory is Lowestoft as a kid with my Dad and seeing the last ones being finished.

Nice photo Jordan. Good to know Kirkby is not just a storage facility. Bob, Unless it is a new resident or just passing through, the only Lodekka based in the Czech Republic is ex (Isle of White) Southern Vectis (Fleet No 562) SLD267 and was painted in poppy red when this photo was taken in 2009. bcv.robsly.com/sdl267.html

Ste, thanks for the info re the Southern Vectis lodekka. The one I saw was definitely an FLF, complete with front electronic door. It looked very roadworthy from where I saw it (I was passing on the train) so maybe a new arrivee. It was lso very close to the German border so could be from there. I am always surprised how many old UK buses reside abroad, and I always try and get some pics if I can.
Thanks again
Bob
