The ski flights for this year are coming to an end. Usually there are so many UK aircraft that it could be the apron a t Bournemouth or Exeter. The something like this happens and it becomes much more interesting. Business jets continue to arrive with skiiers. And we have a few based exotics. But in a few short weeks the airport will revert to its sleepy airlinerless state until the white gold arrives for another year. (should join the tourist board.LOL) With just the club guys revving about. The last one is especially for Captain Turner. As for the white gold The world downhill skiing event at Val D'Isere was FAR too much for me.LOL ;D ;D Mind with these two crackpots and their ever full hip flasks I am amazed we didn't end the day in the jug instead of drinking from it. Oh the joys of retirement. ;D

John, I'm up that way next Saturday (boarding in Tignes). Would you recommend a stop off at Chambery Saturday AM, and if so, is there plenty of places to view/photograph? Cheers.

The passes were for the event and the train ride up to val d'isere from Chambery( pricey at 1€ return per seat.LOL) Its what they do the ensure a large crowd of spectators for the world cup events. Spotting at Chambery is very simple.Enter the magnificent(LOL) airport at the main door and go up to the restaurant/coffee bar then go out onto the terrace--the self opening doors don't work so just pull them aside.(what do you expect--Heathrow standards.LOL) From the terrace you can see the whole of the apron and get decent shots through the glass. Personally I prefer to go into the university complex opposite and photograph from the far side of the runway as it is uninterrupted and ok with a 1/2 decent lens.--you do need a car to get there however.-there is a reasonable raised bank and often a few local spotter too. There seems to be no problem with the law re photographs--I have never asked for a permit and Chambery certainly doesn't have gendarmes checking spotters. I hope you enjoy it.Saturday is usually quite good in the skiing season--expect a Russian or two-but you never can tell. If you phone when you arrive I will try to get down there to show you arround 04 79 81 56 87 is my home number. Have a good time either way. John

Cheers John appreciate that. I'll maybe give you a call Saturday then. The length of time I'm going to be there will depend on the mood of my non spotting passenger!

Great leave me 20min or so to get there as I live on the other side of the mountain from the airport. Just thought I would add a few skiing flight shots from earlier. Enjoy. These shots were taken from the balcony through the glass, although there is an open end to view the biz jets.
