My continuing project of hi-res scanning of my photo collection un-earthed some photos from a memorable day at Woodford. It was the Sunday following the 1990 Woodford Air Show. A typical June day ...chucking it down! My goal, despite the weather was to photograph the departure of former 111 Squadron Phantom FG1 XV582, known as 'Black Mike', along with anything else that moved. Vulcan B2 XH558 from the Vulcan Display Flight parting the waves on RW25 at Woodford. Two 228 OCU Phantom FGR2 did a pairs departure. XT898:CE XT892:CQ Then the one I came for, XV582:M. 111 Squadron markings but operated by the OCU, 111 had disbanded at the end of January 1990. The code was only worn on the starboard side. They just couldn't resist a three ship beat up. This was the only time I caught 'Black Mike' in the air. So I went home with a smile on my face, once my eardrums had stopped ringing. Cheers Shaun
