Do I take it that the cost to use MCR is cheaper (less) than the same flight using Liverpool ? Tornado intercepting the Russian aircraft is really out of the question we haven`t got any spare to do that. I am not a football supporter in anyway I leave that to the wife, but I was under the impression that the Supporters Club especially of Liverpool is huge and quite influential, therefore is it not possible to negotiate better deals for travellers than travel to and from MCR it cant be rocket science ?

This was a topic of conversion between the gathered Meerkats on the 27 mound this morning. It would certainly appear that the Boeing 767 is no longer expected at Manchester. More than that is speculation, as sources within LJLA are not stating anything publicly yet. It is a wait and see situation - not a happy prospect for those who need to make travel plans to see whatever, ifever, anything from Russia turns up on the day.

Solvex Travel, Zenits' official travel company, are advertising a fans trip from LED to LPL arriving on 21st and departing on 22nd.
Unfortunately it does not give times or details of the carrier. I have emailed for more details.....
Interesting to read in Russian how the Adelphi Hotel is being offered as the 'luxury' option !

The problem we have is that Thomas Cook is Liverpool FC's official travel partner, and we all know where they prefer to fly from. A couple of years ago the Spirit of Shankly (SOS) group, who speak for the fans met with them over their pricing of trips, as its generally £300 for a day charter from Liverpool. They were advised that £50 could be shaved off this by flying from Manchester, due to the cost saved by not having to bring the plane to Liverpool in the first place. Thomas Cook agreed to give 10% discounts to any SOS members, and trips -when they operate- tend to still go from Liverpool. Due to the number of lo-cost options though, many day charters never take place as its far cheaper to arrange a 1-2 night stay than go on an organised trip.
