When LFC was drawn to play Zenit I wondered what the weather would be like in Russia at this time of the year. As it tranpires it could be snowing in Liverpool and won't be in St Petersburg. Currently (2100 Tuesday) the temperature at LJLA is +1 and only one degree less at Pulkovo airport. Hopefully LJLA will avoid the worse of the snow and the team will be able to get away.
Other UK airports may be affected by snow Wednesday morning.

0915: A light shower of snow started fall where I am, close to the airport, at around 0830. Snow is sticking to some surfaces, but (as yet) fall is very gentle and 45 minutes on has no depth yet.
1015: Rate of snowfall increased, but still not sticking to roads or pavements. Very thin covering only on grass, roof titles and some cars.
1115: Now big white 'proper' snowflakes. Ground now covered white, although no depth of snow yet on grass or roof tiles. Roads clear, although some snow at the edges. Visibility has dropped, but should be well above that to cause problems. Wind is a southerly, so is across the runway.

Out of curiosity,is Zenit St.Petersburg anything to do with the old camera manufacturer? Some of the former Eastern Bloc football clubs were industry based. I remember Liverpool once played a team from an oil refinery (in Hungary?) called 'Petrolo' something.
