Hi guys. I got a new transceiver the other day an it is the vertex standard pilot III. Only prob is because I live in Walton and my house has had rendering on it I cannot pick up a good signal. I was just wondering on the ground how far is the distance for 119.85??

Cambo Was it supplied with 'Vertex PN: CN-3 Antenna Adapter, SMA to BNC', if it was you could connect to an external antenna for home use. ep.yimg.com/ca/I/stylespilotshop_2251_1293804543A set up like this would give you good reception. www.aircraft-spruce.com/catalog/avpages/lynxmicrosystem39.php

Thanks for the replies. I didn't get the aerial kit to connect it to the home system unfortunately. I can pick Scottish control without a problem though and London atcc. Will give it a proper test on sat up at the airport. Just gotta remember not to hit that PTT while its on freq haha.

The situation of spotters owning an Airband receiver which is also capable of TX is worrying especially when, and no disrespect is intended to the member asking the original question, the owner has apparently little knowledge of the subject. I actually think you should be required to produce a pilots licence of any type or a current ATC rated certificate. An additional concern is the fact this unit comes with a "one button" push activation of the National Distress Freq.

sorry guys i aint been on for a while.
I got the TX as i am planning on carrying on my flying and always have a fear the radios will go down. Its happened before in a Chippy when in our formation out to Old Warden, we had a radio fire.
But i was generally just wondering the distance of LPL when on the ground.
