Runcorn based Selwyn's Travel are the latest to succumb to the pressures of the industry. Founded in 1968, Selwyn's grew through a combination of organic growth and acquisition and upon it's sale owned 90 vehicles, employed 200 staff, with a turnover of £15m pa.
Many on the forum will be familiar with their vehicles and indeed remember them operating at the airport both air / land side and as the first company to operate Airlink route 500.
French state owned RATP Dev (Autonome des Transports Parisiens) have now taken over the helm and as yet have no plans to change their name and will continue operating from their depots in Runcorn, Manchester, and St Helens. Selwyn's MD Selwyn Jones is also to retain his position for the foreseeable future.

I moved to Runcorn in 1962 and Selwyns has always been part of Runcorn. They were first based at York Street (which is part of the Homebase car park now) before they moved up to Weston on Cavendish Farm Road (nr Rocksavage). Regards Beemer.
