My up-grade happened as I was in the middle of up-loading a log and photos.I swore a bit and struggled on but it worked out OK in the end.It links OK with Photobucket so that pleases me. Do I like it? Ask me again in a few days. ...and smiley faces work as I will need a lot of them soon. Regards Beemer.

As i can not find a 'Latest Posts' button, i have had to make this page derbosoft.proboards.com/threads/recent a Favorite on my 'Bookmarks Bar' because i can't find any way of getting back to the page unless i use the back button, the back button is ok providing you have not gone to a thread with lots of pages.

Can I just advise those people who are now trying to create a new account because they have forgotten their log-in details from the old board that there could be delays to accepting as, to keep this board from trolls and spam, I have set it so each had to be checked and approved individually.

If you use Firefox, you find your password by selecting Tools / Options / Security, then click on the button with 'Saved Passwords' and then 'Show Password' You will then see all your passwords.

cambrian5619 did you tick 'Keep Me Logged In' when you signed in, if not sign out and tick the box before you sign in.

I understand what you mean 5619. It's not a question of having to search for your password. The old forum used to save it and all you needed to do was click on LOG IN. Now you have to physically type in your password every time you log in...unless I'm missing something?
Anyone made any progress with my earlier request about how to restore my previous opt-out from receiving all photograph images?

Well, in many ways the forum 'update' is not quite as wide-sweeping and drastic as I, for one, had feared. There are many features which I worried may disappear and are still in place and other frivolous social networking features have not appeared.
LATEST 50 POSTS. I do find that 'Latest 50 Posts' facility as disappeared - but replaced by a choice of 'Latest threads' and 'Latest Posts' facilities that go back weeks (months?), which once I get used to remembering the last post/thread I had viewed, may end up preferable.
THE AVATARS. Seems to be a new generation 'ego' thing to have a picture represent you. I absolutely loathe the blue 'egg-face', way larger and more obvious than any member's selected avatar. It would appear that the administrators can change this 'default' avatar. However as I have no experience of creating/mounting avatars, it might be a while before Dave G and myself can get our heads together to change the blue 'egg-face' to something a little more pleasing and far less obvious. Bear with us on this one, please. On paper I'm working on some sort of 'Valued NWAN member' type logo as an idea for the default avatar, but scribbles to screen may take some time!
I-PADS. My i-pad continues to display the site well, including 1040 sized photos - however tables are narrowed, so what are one-line entries on my wide PC screen are now over two lines with disrupted columns. I may have to re-think instructions for script when compiling charts. I'll experiment over the next few weeks and post recommendations for the few who tabulate information.
My quibble with my i-pad (others may differ), is that when I open up Compass, the last viewed page of the 8 most recently visited sites are displayed and are a quick link to the sites to visit next - problem now is that so many forum sites are the same pastel shades of blue they all look alike at postage stamp size (even full screen!). We do have the capability to change colour and tones of background colours, but I am currently hesitant to inflict further change before I fully know what I am doing!!
I-PHONES. I have no experience of these, so it may be useful to others if those with i-phones post their experiences, good and bad to share with others and the administrators. A process that has already started.
CREATE POST. As I type this, I am thinking that the font size on screen is tiny. I note that, certainly above my 'create post' panel, that there is opportunity to select both font face and font size. Clearly some experimentation will need to take place to find what is visually acceptable. Certainly I can see the administrators stepping in if 36 point is applied to long posts! Thank goodness for 'preview' still being available to check a post. The larger 'create box' is a definite improvement.
PHOTOGRAPHS. Some feared a change here - however it would appear that for those that post via Photobucket etc, there is only a little change in procedures. 1040 appears to be the largest acceptable size still, to fit comfortably on the screen. It does appear that when copying the Photobucket image reference into the square (created by clicking over the mountain scene postcard logo) that the http//: has to be deleted first. Also manually inserting [IMG) {/IMG] before and after the image code no longer works. Should I now use one of the other options offered by Photobucket now, not 'Direct'? Any further comment from regular image postees? Is it me, or has the clarity/sharpness of photos displayed on screen actually improved?
DELETE. It would appear that the 'delete' option for your own posts has disappeared (or is certainly less obvious). Ah, now found by clicking on the arrow beside the 'cog wheel' logo top left of the screen (added on edit).
FINALLY. The new format/pastel colours will take a while to get used to. Thank you for your patience so far as we all adapt. Meanwhile, I'll take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to all our considerable numbers of members who contribute, both regularly and occasionally. The information, comment and illustration on all threads/posts is the 'life-blood' of a forum such as ours. I really do hope that all contributors will continue and not be put-off by changes on-screen.
This appears to be posted on default 'ariel' font and '10pt' font size - which (certainly on 'preview') looks acceptable for most postings - so there is no need to change font settings.

I can only speak for my android phone until 11/6. I have managed to restore myself as an admin and keep my password log-in so I don't have to enter it each time. It seems that it defaulted to the android app at first, but now I have switched to desktop mode all admin functions are now available to me. As I have said before, any fine tuning that I can do will have to wait until I get home and have access to my main computer.
Thanks again for your patience...luckily only two ex members have attempted to re-join as new members so far. I would re-iterate my warning that there could be delays with these in the coming days.

On my PC on the 'create post' panel the spell-checker function is AUTOMATIC, underlining errors in red for attention, then hover-over and right-click for options to correct. Surely you noticed this 'Groundhopper's Bro' when composing your post asking where the speel-cheker was? Even "Groundhoppers" come up as error, although the spell-check identified words don't show as red underlined once posted. I'll resist the temptation to post this in large font though.
Interestingly, colour does not show as a spelling error, although color does - at long last a PC programme (yes, that spelling is now correct too) that speaks English, not MS American! Trying now to remember other American spellings that annoy me to test spell-check further!
That blue egg-head avatar is really bugging me!
