SE-LZU Turbo Commander has visited today. G-BCVJ Cessna 172 arrived this morning. G-BFBE Robin is parked on the GA ramp.
An RAF Marham Tornado is due around 17:10 for an approach to runway 09.

According to SBS the Tornado was ZA 550. Also, both Thomson 787s routed over Wirral back to MIA this afternoon and would have passed close to Speke. GTUIA (TOM 912) from Newquay and GTUIB (TOM 957) from Cardiff.

John
I stand corrected. As you can tell, I am not such a new member. More a lapsed old member. No ribald comments please.

Well thanks to the 'heads-up' posted by Sabreliner, I was able to get down to the lay-by beyond the 27 mound in time to watch the RAF Tornado perform a go-around on runway 09, and tight turn-out precisely at the time expected. Nice one. Just before the Tornado performed the go-around, a Commander 690 (or similar) landed 09 and taxied onto the GA. Presumed SE-LZU returning. Blue tail with geometry details in white. I was out of position to see it clearly. A few photos of the Tornado over the field hedges. Watched making a low approach and go-around, he disappeared from sight below hedge height keeping it low, by the time he re-appeared above hedge height, the undercarriage was wrapped-up and he entered into a tight right hand turn over my head, before reaching the 27 end threshold. The 180 degree turn took him out over the river with a burst of re-heat to wake the Wirral up as he rolled out the turn, then off northwards up the Mersey low and fast. Great entertainment. Sun not in the best of position, being almost directly down 09, but not all conditions can be perfect all the time! Clearly coded '042', which confirms the SBS record as Tornado GR.4 ZA550, indeed with magnification I can read the serial off one of the shots!
