Some shots from southside First couple rare shots of aircraft landing on 23L What was the reason for the 23L landing pattern? Must be an epic taxy back to the terminals, similar to Schipol I guess! GC

Some shots from southside First couple rare shots of aircraft landing on 23L What was the reason for the 23L landing pattern? Must be an epic taxy back to the terminals, similar to Schipol I guess! GC Taken from Manchester airport website During June 2013 we are carrying out some taxiway reconstruction and maintenance. The programme will require eight nights of Runway 1 (23R/05L) closures. Whilst the Runway is closed we will carry out routine maintenance tasks necessary to keep our busiest runway in a good and safe condition. Runway 2 (Runway 23L/05R) will be used as the sole runway between 2230 and 0630 hours, Sunday - Thursday nights only; starting at 2130 hours on Sunday 16th until works are completed at 0630 hours on Wednesday 26th June 2013. As always, the prevailing weather conditions will determine in which direction aircraft will take-off and land. In the event of bad weather/low visibility, the works may be deferred and Runway 1 will be reinstated. Normal operations will resume at all other times. These changes are permitted within the terms of the Planning Permission for Runway 2.
