A couple from me from a different perspective; G-OMYT surrounded by emergency services after it's number 2 engine failed during take off roll. The sound of the explosion was very loud at the 05L landing lights where this shot was taken fromG-TUIB backtracking along 23L whilst 23R was briefly closed following the earlier incidentG-TUIB - AlfieAn Easyjet bus rotates as 'The Beat from the East' establishes on the localiserUR-82060 very short finalsThe AN-225 preparing to onboard its loadMet Simon Lowe at the 05L landing lights, he was the chap who took the video of the Thomson 757 which suffered engine failure in 2007 that is seemingly not off the telly these days! Nice chap although bad luck (or good luck) seems to follow him around! Regards, Garry

Great pics from yesterday.
For those interested in some updated information from the MYT RTO., it is looking increasingly like an engine surge caused by ingestion of a foreign body.

It has now been reported by the French BEA that the engine failure suffered by G-OMYT, resulting in a rejected takeoff at 140 knots, was due to an engine fault. The AAIB have opened an investigation into the occurrence rated a serious incident. Link to the Aviation Herald story below; avherald.com/h?article=46455b06Regards, Garry
