It's not been a great year for me (especially at low level, where 2 cancelled trips resulted in missing F16s, Mirage F1s and Mirage 2000s ) But I did manage to finally get to a European airshow, and flew solo for the first time in February. Haven't spent much time at LPL this year either, but it's been good to chat to the mound dwellers when I have and at the Speke open days.
As ever, many thanks to all who have kept me company/put up with me/offered their transport services/flown their aeroplane past a cold hill. Hope to see you all in 2014 where I'll be making the most of the last few months without a full time job!
First trip of the year was to the Lakes in January where I finally caught a snowy Tornado (after a blank the week before!) It was also my first special tail of the year!
1
The day was completed with 4 more Tornado passes and a Hercules
2
In March I took my camera overseas for the first time this year and spent some time at KBOS and at various locations around New York, including the Intrepid

In May, there were widespread commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic. These were mainly based in Liverpool, resulting in some great opportunities.
6
7
Back to the Lakes in June, where the only movement was a rather special one
8
Also in June, the largest aircraft in the world dropped in to Manchester
9
At the end of June I made the journey to Austria for Airpower 2013. Due to a delayed first flight, we spent 5 hours at Brussels where an EU economic summit was being held. Amongst the VIP jets was this Russian beauty
10
Airpower itself was superb, especially the Austrian demos

13
14
Back to the UK, and in July, my first Duxford show from the naughty field
15
And a quick day trip to RIAT
16
17
And in August a trip in to the unknown to Kecskemet, where the searing heat was definitely worth it!

Also made it back to the Lakes in August for more Tornados. Been fortunate with GR4 passes this year! Also bagged a couple of Lynxes.
25
The next show was Dawlish, where the Meteor impressed!

My only 2013 loop trip came in September in hope of Finns and Saudis. Fortunately the former did not disappoint! The Tonka crews came out to play as well

The final low level trip was in September to the Lakes where a very nice variety of traffic passed me at Smaithwaite

Unfortunately 4th year Aerospace Engineering then got in the way and I didn't manage to get out much after that. I did however, get to go flying with my housemate at the end of September over Wales, and I'll finish with a few dusk shots from around the loop:

Finally, the best moment of 2013 for me was completing my first solo in G-LFSG at Liverpool Airport on 22.2.13, so here's a shot of me taxying in a week later
45
Have a good new year everyone!
