Saw it myself Ste, D-CALM Dornier 228 @ 12:02hrs. as it crossed the centre line for 27 at 4 miles heading South. Was it operating the ambulance flight at Hawarden? Regards Beemer.

He has just called up now @ 15:21 as Science 01. Sounds like a survey aircraft to me. Just looked it up.
DLR / National Enviromental Reserch Council Dornier Do-228 Last seen by me at Fairford 1995.

This aircraft and operator came up a while ago and after a net search I posted details of this aircraft and also another one they use. At the time as I recall they had been using BPL as a base for airborne survey work.

Your Right Beemer,
From what I was told the other week, they carry out Natural Survey's of Coast and Wildlife Habitat for En-going research. The were down here in West Wales about a month ago carrying out a Survey on the impact the New LNG Gas Pipeline from Milford Haven.
Hope this helps.
