I have just found a leaflet for the 1981 Liverpool Airshow that I attended and also found the log for this good day, the bad thing that spoilt this was going home on a bus, it hit a stray dog and we had to wait till the police came.

Not able to look-in at the forum too often at present, but there is already a detailed listing and comment regarding, not only the 1981 Liverpool Air Display, but also all the others between 1956 and 1984. www.derbosoft.proboards.com/thread/130The report and list of participants is part way down page 1, while there are not too brilliant photos of mine part way down page 2. There are lots of historical threads regarding the Airport and also Merseyside aviation events, which can be located from an index page: derbosoft.proboards.com/thread/3620

Just in case you do look well done with the other report with those pictures from this Airshow, it brought back memories of a time in my life and to say with being new to the forum and not delving in the archives but I had found my old log book and the leaflet for this Airshow.

Hi Tony, I was also there and as you said, it was a fantastic day and fine weather too. I took my camera with me but only had a few frames left on the film so decided to use them up at the air show. Here's the shots I took on the day, sorry I don't have more to share but hope these bring back some memories! Avro Lancaster B.1 PA474 'City of Lincoln' Hawker Sea Fury TF956 Avro Shackleton AEW.2 WL795 For fans of the Shackleton, the good news is WL795 is still alive and kicking. She was converted to an MR.2 around 1990 and now 'guards' the gate at the RAF enclave at Newquay Cornwall Airport (formerly St. Mawgans). For more images, here's a link to her Facebook page: www.facebook.com/pages/Avro-Shackleton-wl795/345355012226568?fref=tsAnd the finale - The Red Arrows Thanks for looking, Dave H.

Actually I think the question posed by "UKCandy", should be not so much what was the original film-stock used, but what sort of scanner was employed to digitise them and which programme used to 'photoshop' out the blemishes and restore the colour. They are an impressive set of near 35 year old photos.

Over the moon with the pics Dave H what film did you use for them?. Tony, the film was Kodacolor II ASA 100 with C-41 processing. Photo's were taken with a Pentax ME Super and a Pentax 80-200mm f4 zoom lens. I was very much still learning about photography in those days so image quality is a bit iffy on a couple of the shots but the Red Arrows pic is my best effort I think. Viscount, the negatives were scanned using a Canon 9000F flatbed scanner then edited in Adobe Photoshop CS6 to remove spots and blemishes followed by colour correction, saturation and sharpening. Thanks for the comments, Dave H

Thanks Dave H I myself took a few years in getting into photography, the late eighties, then I did a Diploma in photography and design in Wirral Metropolitan College and Passed but with being Film camera's I used Fuji Super G 800asa and the Olympus camera make and I forget which lenses I used at the time but today I use Canon EOS camera's and 300mm f4 and a 70-200mm f2.8 lenses, they work a treat sometimes as I am not getting the results all the time when light changes very quickly but only experience will get those better one I used to get with Film.
Tony.
