Well, firstly from Hamilton - visited on 24 September 2014 - to see Canadian Warplane Museum collection - sans Lancaster, which I preceded across the pond, apparently its due back in Hamilton Sunday.
But better than the Museum collection, Hamilton is a Boeing 727 freighter fest - 5 different colour schemes on ten airframes, and here is a selection;
C-FCJV, with C-GUJC behind
N722CK
C-GLKF
C-GNKF
C-GQKF
C-GCJD, stored and engineless, and not possible to get a clear shot
C-FCJF, also stored, but intact
N168UP
C-GKFD
C-GKFB
C-GKFA
Next we took a boat ferry ride to Toronto Islands, which just happens to be half occupied by Toronto Downtown / Billy Bishop Airport (oops Dear, what an unexpected surprise to find an airport there!). All these photos were taken from the boat.
Not as much of a surprise as me finding these three Dash 7's laid up, and engineless. From left to right C-GYTZ, C-GVWD in UN colours, and the tail registration of C-GNUY just visible (same colour scheme as YTZ).
Porter Airlines is the main operator at Billy Bishop (WW1 Canadian Ace and VC). C-GKQC illustrated.
This is C-FLQY
Canada Express Q400 C-FSRY
There are plenty of floatplanes about, but unfortunately so far I've never been in the right place at the right time. This is C-GYZK landing just infront of the Toronto waterfront, before water-taxying to moor alongside the airport.
Slightly better luck with C-FGSN, although it caught me by surprise on finals to the short airport runway.
The 600 foot CNN tower is near the waterfront, and if you're daft enough you can pay to dress in an orange suit and dangle over the edge! Whilst upside down you can watch passing aircraft such as C-GFDH on finals to the airport.
Not needed on this occasion, but otherwise very active several times a day is medivac AW139 C-GYNN
The next day was a lengthy freeway road trip to Niagara Falls, and this wonderful auto was spotted on the way. It really is as large as it looks - easily the size of a Transit van, if not bigger. I want one!
Also taken out of the car window at 100 kph, was this Westjet 737 C-GWSQ, climbing out of Toronto Pearson Airport.
Near Niagara Falls is a very active heliport, with four Longrangers shuttling sight-seeing pax to and from the falls. This is C-FLYG.
and C-FLRH
That's it for now .....................
