Here's a video of Coventry night cargo movements taken in August 1996 just one month before the retirement of the last Vanguard. Hear her Tyne and Viscount Dart engines as they are taxing/starting up. Enjoy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsQh8WXFP4E

This sort of recording is vital for future history if the SOUNDS of earlier times have been recorded. The other night that classic of the cinema " The Day of the Jackal " was on the telly and there was a fleeting glimpse and sound of a Vanguard.I mean how often are you likely to hear that in the future? Full marks to all those flying museums that maintain original engines in a/c types but consider those that are extinct.Unless you are lucky enough to come across some very old film where would you get a change to hear the sound of some very famous and prolific engines like for example a Napier Lion in a Fairey 111 or an HP42,Wapiti,Virginia,Stuka even.
Excellent stuff.Give us more all you people out there with videos and all the other modern gizmos.
