Some more B&Ws from further afield. These three were taken from Queen's Building at Heathrow, probably about 1960/61. Looking back at these, it strikes me how relatively few aircraft are around - it seemed busy to us though ;D Those are Constellations in the background. The DC-7 could cross the Atlantic easily from the UK, so other carriers took advantage of this and routed their services through Heathrow. No worries about slots in those days! The Alitalia fires up No. 4 as it begins to taxi out. All aircraft were forbidden from leaving the area under full power because of the damage which could be done by the propwash Two pictures from Beirut in 1964. The DC-3 did the run to Damascus and Nicosia in those days. Hands up all those who can recognise these! They're Languedocs which had obviously been taken out of service and pushed to a far corner of the airfield. They had carried Air Liban titles because they were taken out of service before it was merged with MEA.

Languedocs---wow!!! I may have seen one with PHB in France in the early 60s but he will have to find the photo as my memory does not stretch to infinity like his.LOL Great photos. Thankk God you were there to make such a valuable historical record.

Can't argue with the Heathrow date, based on the three photos must be between 9.58 and 12.60.
F-BGNN V.708 Viscount with Air France 10.53 to 12.60 (this a/c became G-ARGR of Alidair, Dan Air and BAF)
OY-KNB (I think) DC-7 with SAS 9.56 to 12.67; if OY-KND DC-7 SAS then 8.57 to 11.67
I-DIMT DC-6 with Alitalia 9.58 to during '63
