At about 2.35pm today (Monday, December 14), a light aircraft crashed in a field near Beeston. The 64-year-old pilot, from Merseyside, was the only person aboard the aircraft and he escaped with minor injuries to his knee and hand. The aircraft, described as a Rand KR-2, experienced technical difficulties and crashed into a field near Betty’s Lane, Beeston. The aircraft sustained significant damage as a result of the crash. The Air Accident Investigation Branch has been informed.

Looks like it's more of a forced landing than a "crash", given the slight injuries sustained by the pilot. I think there must have been some skillful flying to cope with the emergency, whatever it was, to get it down & walk away from it. Well done.
