The Planes of Fame East Museum was located at Flying Cloud Airport until 1997 when it was closed and the collection moved to Chino, California to be merged into the Planes of Fame West Museum. The museum was formed by Bob Pond, a Minneapolis industrialist who moved the collection when he retired to Palm Springs, California. He passed away in 2008. Aircraft were rotated between Flying Cloud and Chino frequently, and he would allow people associated with the museum to ride along in empty seats. A coworker of mine was checked out in the museum Stearman, and got to ride in the rear seat of the P51 on one such trek, and in the B25 on another. I never had time to get involved and can really kick myself.
Very good pictures - brought back lots pf memories.
