Hello folks Looking through some old slide scans from the 1982 Finningley Air Show, the best of which are shown below. They were taken on both the arrivals day and the air show day. I guess its a long shot, but i wonder if anyone can identify the 1 Squadron Harrier GR3 coded '02' that was in the static area parked on the grass. XL161 55 Squadron Victor K2 XV355 237 OCU Buccaneer S2A 52 French Navy 55S Nord 262E A-533 Captured Argie' Pucara K-4030 R Neth AF 315 Squadron NF-5B XV572 43 Squadron Phantom FG1 XV814 RAE Comet 4C(mod) XX731 54 Squadron Jaguar GR1 XZ995 3 Squadron Harrier GR3 ZA594 TWCU Tornado GR1 And finally the elusive 1 Squadron Harrier GR3 Cheers guys Shaun

The MAS member's magazine 'Flypast' in 1982 did not cover the BofB Finningley Air Show. In 1982 I was at Leuchars, not Finningley - so no personal log either. Found the answer in Air Britian 'News' magazine: XV787/02 Harrier GR.3 1 Sqdn. Incidently, they give Harrier GR.3 XZ995/AO as 3 Sqdn, operated by 233 OCU (which would explain the partly deleted nose badge).
VickersFour - If you want the full published log, contact me by PM to discuss how best to send you a copy.
Nice photos, great variety of types, colour camouflage and clear unit marks - how we did not appreciate then what we had until they had gone!

Both BARG and Scramble Airshows confirm XV787, BARG stating it was back with 1 Sqn after loan to 4 Sqn! As for XZ995 they state it was on loan from 3 Sqn!!
Nice selection of pictures. ;D

A big thanks for your efforts, comments and quick response in getting me an ident on the Harrier. Its a pity that all my logs and MAS Flypast got lost several house moves ago.
It was just the Harrier i was struggling with 'Viscount' but thankyou for your kind offer.
Chris, that comment about the Shacks has just give me an idea for another thread (or even section). Maybe under the title 'Home Grown' (where have i heard that before?) for photos/notes about aircraft built at Hawarden, Warton and Woodford? Maybe a Moderator may like to comment on a prefered way of doing this?
The trouble with scanning these old slides is it makes me realise what an old git i am!!
Thanks
Shaun
