Great photo's. I'm looking at Japan for next year. What lense and camera did you use? Do I need to invest in a large lense for Japan?

Thanks for the comments. Steve, This was the first big trip since Daz and myself "went digital". My camera was a Nikon D200 with a 100mm-300mm F4 Sigma lens. A little more focal length would be good, say up to 400mm. Our long haul sectors were with Swiss then with ANA for the internal sectors. We flew Manchester - Zurich - Tokyo Narita, then ground transport to Tokyo Haneda. Flying again Haneda - Sapporo - Nagoya Centrair (with side trip to Komaki) - Fukuoka - Osaka Itami. Ground transport to Osaka Kansai then flew down to Okinawa Naha. Final stint was Naha - Taipei - Hong Kong with China Airlines then Swiss for the long haul back home. Would certainly recommend Japan, superb facilities at every airport we visited. Not sure if we'd do Sapporo again, was pretty cold and most stuff could be seen else where apart from the Hokkaido Air System SAAB 340s and some mil stuff. The sector from Haneda to Sapporo was 1hr 14min on a full 777-300! We'll be going back in a few years to get the ANA Dreamliners! Let me know if you need any more details. Siberia taken from Swiss A340 HB-JMF Cheers, GC

GC Will we be going back to get those Dreamliners in a few years time? I'll have to get saving again! This is my 1st attempt at putting a photo on here, so apologies if it goes wrong... Hopefully this should be a Hainan 737-800 in a rather nice colour scheme. As GC says, a little more than 300mm on a lens would have been nice for some of the smaller stuff, but pretty much at most places, 300mm will suffice. Cheers Darren

Help.... Why is my image so small, rather than the 1072x711 (i.e. normal size as GC's above) size?
Anyone use fotopic on here to give me a helping hand?
Cheers Darren

Never used fotopic but if its similar to Photobucket there will be a 'more options' key somewhere. Selecting the size you want prior to uploading should allow you to vary the size. The large ones you see on the rest of the thread are 17" or 1024 pixels wide.
Hope this helps

Ste / anyone My original photos are at 2256x1496 which I then re-size to 1072x711. These are uploaded to fotopic at this size and I have the options set on the image settings to view as original size (i.e. the 1072x711) when being views on my fotopic website.
I must admit, I don't play around with fotopic that much and don't know if there is a resize when uploading option, but cetainly there is a viewing size option, which as I say should keep it as the uploaded size of 1072x711 when viewing.
So, still unsure of why the image on here of the Hainan pig comes up so small as I've never set anything to such a small size.
Hmmmmmm........
