Going to risk wrath here, but all very well having nice facility airside, but as has been said hopefully not in portacabins. Then the rich people get into their nice chauffeur driven vehicle, drives out of the airport then has to do the black run to avoid the sink holes on the roads outside. The environment just outside the road to the airport looks an absolute tip.
Are there plans for a nice hangar??

So will some A list superstars pass through this facility then is that what is it .......

It is starting to look very smart, new fencing, proper kerbs and tarmac with shingle inbetween. Workmen were busy planting shrubs adjacent to what will be the entrance. Any visiting rich people using the new XLR facility should be spared the delights of the GA road (which in my opinion is an eyesore / s***hole) and gives a great first impression of Liverpool .... NOT! - also the fly tipped couches in Dungeon Lane, and Hale Road with its many craters and potholes. Bulldog, forget the wrath, it is what it is - and I for one agree with you.

Having re read the post of 18th Jan , it indicates the plan was to build further up towards existing GA area. Can anyone shed light on why it is now the other end, presumably saves building an apron

Having re read the post of 18th Jan , it indicates the plan was to build further up towards existing GA area. Can anyone shed light on why it is now the other end, presumably saves building an apron I would hazard a guess that they simply wanted to get the operation up and runnng as soon as possible. Building a hangar, new office, laying apron space etc will take some time.

I think you may have missed their 'superior portacabins cluster - admittedly it is about 6 cabins high and with a base of around 10 cabins wide by 4 deep, but it's still there on the site of the new multistory car park rather than the pier construction.

Drove past this morning - lights on inside the building and possibly operational. It looks smart and most certainly not a “portacabin”.

It`s funny is it not how people whinge about port-a-kabins at Liverpool,but fail to realise that most Mackkie`D`s on outlet shopping centres are the same porta kabin construction, do they complain then NO.

Yeah they are called modular construction and every type of new industrial looking building is the same. You wouldn’t call them portacabins. It looks less industrial than their Birmingham base does. That looks more a car sales centre. Very industrial. Shouldn’t we be encouraging more projects that bring in both aircraft and revenue rather than dissing everything?

Please cut the moaning. This is a new venture which needs all the support it can get. As I have said before Liverpool is seeing more private aircraft movements than ever before. Manchester is running out of space for parking and runway space at peak times. This company I believe have also seen this trend, that’s why they have taken the chance to open here. Do we know who owns the building? I would suspect that it will be owned by the airport and leased to the operator. The type of construction is used in many situations. It is a lot better than the original types and much cheaper to build than say brick. Knowing what happens at airports would you build something substantial only for plans to change in a few years time and then knock it down. So this type of construction offers better value. You would be surprised what they can look like inside, after all their customers tend to want quality, so will they give them bare walls and plastic seats. Don’t think so.

Presumably the Airport will do a press release in due course.
