Dutch Air Force F-27 Troopship in display colours. Looks like it might be serial C-8, but I don't know the date.
Cheers,
Dave

The Dutch F-27, RAF Jaguar, Tornado, Tucanos (note red/while training colours) and Hercules were all at Woodvale to participate in a Southport Airshow. Quite an early one, so early 'Nineties. After a few years of using Woodvale as a base for the show, when the Southport show became two day affair, there was a problem with Woodvale possibly overnight security costs(?), so the aircraft mostly moved to Blackpool, although Navy and Army helicopters continued to use Woodvale.

Thanks for the responses. Shame we don't see all the airshow types using Woodvale still, would be good seeing a typhoon going over the house! Does anyone have any pictures of aircraft at Woodvale for the airshow? Would be good to see whats been in over the years.

Going back a bit to the Woodvale Airshow in 1957, I saw Constantin Cantuzino perform here. He was also at a show on the same day at Squires Gate. This poor quality film clip of him performing over a bullring in Spain gives an idea of his skills. He was a master of ultra low level rolls, including flick rolls just after take-off and just prior to landing. Unforgettable! I have never seen an aerobatic performance that comes anywhere near to his level. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NXEmAYJ4xU

Sadly no photos. A box Brownie with a 1/50 sec shutter speed was not up to it!

This is the actual aircraft that performed at the Woodvale Air Show 12-06-1957. Don't know if it was taken there but G- reg Miles Gemini? aircraft behind it. Thanks to the web for photo.

Just for the record, Beemer and certainly not wishing to score points, the Woodvale aircraft was EC-AMO. He brought AEX to the UK earlier on. Good try with the Gemini, but that aircraft in the background is a GAL Cygnet II, not one familiar to modern enthusiasts! We (me and PHB) still haven't identified where the pic was taken.

Another letter further down the thread confirms what you say. "To add to your very interesting account of Bazu in Spain, he did fly EC-AMO because I saw him display it at RAF station Woodvale in NW England on 12 June 1957. I was a teenager at the time and I have never seen a display so spectacular. He also flew at the Blackpool Squires Gate Airshow the same day. I am told that EC-AMO had a Lycoming engine. "
