HANGAR ONE - LONG TERM STORAGE
Their long-term storage facility. Attempted to "blag" my way in - no chance! Seems that there is so
much in there it defies any application of health and safety for all, except for those who put the stuff in
in the first place! Lots of gems though - Phantom, Beaufighter, Tiger Moth, Bulldog prototype, Sketeer,
Viscount (ex Cosford G-AMOG), Buccaneer.
There are restoration workshops that they very occasionally take small group tours around.

THE GOOD NEWS
The National Museum of Flight Scotland is actively gathering funding and making plans for a big expansion
which will bring the Comet, BAC-111-510 and Vulcan indoors and provide space for many of the
exhibits currently in deep storage. This is really good news for a fine museum with many hidden 'gems'
and follows on from the refurbishment of hangars 2 and 3, November 2014 to March 2016.
The day before I visited was a Scottish Museums 'free entry' day with over 4,000 visitors - glad I was
a day later! While not a large museum, very well worth visiting and some types not be often viewed elsewhere.
Well exhibited, freedom to wander around without barriers (other than for safety), plenty of short audio/visual
displays adding to information boards beside the aircraft. An enjoyable afternoon.
USING THE GENERAL AVIATION AIRFIELD
G-CGAZ P&M Aviation Quik R flexiwing microlight making several flights.
I did not attempt to visit this mainly microlight aircraft airfield as time had run short.
