Brilliant! Proper cars EDIT: Just looked through again and remembered how much better the "RS" alloys looked than the "Pepperpots" introduced on the Cologne engined 2.8i's GC

Your right Digit
I thought when I was there that the ‘pepperpots’ have not aged very well

One of my favourite cars of all time. The ones I had were company cars Two 2 litres and a 2.8 litre for a short period -(it was my boss's but I 'borrowed' it while I was waiting for a new one).

Fantastic pics. Had the pleasure of owning 2 in my "youth" early/mid 80's TPT326M red/silver and HRP937N Purple with a black vinyl roof! used to polish it weekly with shoe polish. Happy memories. Amazing cars, and if I could get my hand on a decent one now i'd have it! A real wander down memory lane, thanks for posting Ian

Very sad that we can remember the registrations from all those years ago..... however my two were white 1.6GL SKD148T kept that until saw the “professionals” type the 2.0s but sadly can’t recall the plate on that . Always lusted after the 2.8 Brooklands
Rubbish handling cars but with the flares and hair we were a million dollars😂😂 Happy days

I had two but both were far from new.
The first was a 2.0 litre V4 (think it was the engine from the old Corsair, not the F-4U!) and the second was a 3 litre V6 Essex engine.
As an aside, that V6 engine found it's way into an old military LandRover Lightweight, the purists really took the hump but it was an "interesting" machine! Only problem with the V6 lump I seem to remember was it chewed up timing gears a bit too frequently but it was a whole lot more reliable than the Rover (Buick derived?) V8 unit.
Memories...

OMG Capri heaven ! At least the German examples were built properly. I had one (UK built) from 1978-1982, a Diamond White Mk 1 OFM 578M with the after thought
1.6 Pinto engine squeezed in and a bulged bonnet to accomodate it. The only snag was they ate overhead camshafts due to poor oil feed, mine failed somewhere
around 60,000 miles. As Clive said the back end was lethal in wet weather. The cassette player only knew how to play Blondie tapes dare I admit to it.
My favourites from your photos have to be the Daytona Yellow and Tawny Metallic Mk 1s with four headlamps !

I had forgotten yours Martin, my first was the Diamond White with Brown vinyl roof. Very stylish in those days. Then again the 2.0S also Diamond White with Black vinyl roof.
Agreeing with Martin here re wet weather, The back could become the front very easily of corner a bit too quickly in the wet!!!
Still cool to look at. I think I sold my 2.0S for the first of the XR3.

Had a Mk1 from 74 to 77 (red) and a special which I bought new in 1980 (orangey red). The fastest I have driven a car, 130 mph, downhill. Never let me down. Sold it in 1985. Great cars!
