These aircraft operate in the harshest of environments, so it is hardly surprising they suffer a higher than average number of accidents compared to other aircraft operating under ideal conditions.

Wow! Could have made it four in a week. I find it hard to agree with Phil's suggestion of the terrain it's operating in. If the aircraft is not up to the terrain the owners should not be buying them and neither should Cessna be selling them to people/companies who want to operate it in unsuitable terrains. As Bulldog points out another two have gone down since my last post making it seven in seven weeks. If this rate continues they will be going down faster than they can be built. It took just 2 crashes to ground the 737MAX, yet this too is an airliner that has cost 460 lives well over 100 more than the MAX.

I actually never mentioned “terrain”, I was being careful with my wording. Terrain is only one factor that could be involved in the conditions under which they could be operating. You could speculate by adding loading, weather, temperature, altitude, equipment failure, navigation difficulties, pilot errors, wildlife, runway conditions (assuming there is one) etc.
I’ve no wish to get involved in a discussion, as I was just trying to make the point that some aircraft types can have a higher accident rate because of their environment of operation rather than through an inherent fault. Many British aircraft had high accident rates ,e.g. Meteor ....an aircraft fault or other reasons....probably a bit of both.

Blooming eke, all that lot for harshest of environments? What the heck is terrain if it's not part of the environment? I think it's time for me to give up with this site as I can't be doing with this cloak and daggers stuff. Too much of a mine field for me in this ever increasing PC world!
