It would appear the Laker days are well and truly over. Back then it was buyer beware but the table has well and truly turned - and about time too! Boeing are having to compensate Icelandair for loss of earnings due to the grounding of it's 737 MAX's. Unfortunately, for Boeing this is only the tip of the iceberg, there are many more airlines queuing up behind them. Boeing may well have to forego may years of profits to get back into the black after this. China, Japan, and Russia, are producing fledgling aircraft that are well capable of competing with Boeing's 737, whilst Airbus are giving them a good run for their money in the wide-bodied market. As a result of this Boeing could well have to reduce of curtail it's dividend to investors for many years to come and that could well mean investors pulling out as airlines look to placing future orders with Boeings competitors. On top of all this, if other companies are anything to go by, the CEO will walk away with a golden handshake too. simpleflying.com/icelandair-737-max-compensation/
