8-)Brought a tear to my eye. Our generation can still remember talking to many old soldiers and airmen and will always remeber the tales they told. When I was a student I worked as a bus conductor and shared my days with heroes--including Arnhem glider pilots--BofB spitfire pilots--Lancaster rear gunners--Wellington navigators-Sherman tank drivers and Artillerymen who were at El Alamein and Salerno. My interest in military history and a smattering of relevant knowledge got them to open up and I will be forever grateful for their warm and sometimes sad and horrific stories.
I must put this collection down in print somewhere before I pop my clogs as they are nearly all gone now and their memories are well worth a read and a chuckle(or shudder in some cases) --well God bless them all for what they did for us and thank you --wherever your shades now reside.
