There is a new facility at Barton allowing those interested in aviation to experience realistic flight simulation in 2 very different aircraft.
Airbus A320
Rockwell Commander
Both simulators use 180 degree projector screens with facility to fly into and out of just about any airfield location anywhere - including Barton itself, or you can do an ILS at EGCC with 500m viz.
The experience is fantastic and is open to anyone who wants to see just what it’s like to fly an airliner or a light aircraft. It’s a great opportunity to have a go at learning to fly a single engine light aircraft before you have to lay out the cash to learn in the real thing - it’s a cheap way of familiarising yourself with flying lessons at a fraction of the cost.
The A320 uses the most realistic hardware available in any simulator today and we have enthusiastic airline pilots available during the current restrictions to guide you through the process whether you are a furloughed ATPL wanting to keep your hand in or you just fancy having a go at flying a jet.
The Rockwell is in fact the fuselage section of N9AC which has been converted to a glass cockpit whilst retaining the original controls. We believe this to be a unique example as we have used an actual aircraft with real seats, doors, throttle, prop and mixture levers, control wheels and yokes, rudder pedals, flaps lever, gear selector, fuel selector- even real seatbelts to fasten and click open!
During the current lockdown we are not allowed to operate but we are carrying out extensive testing and operational trials under COVID safe conditions. We can allow individuals to have a look at the set-up under the 2m rule with appropriate face coverings and sanitisation but this currently is very restricted and limited and is subject to a member of staff being on site to supervise.
Once restrictions are eased we will be open for business at very competitive rates for those who want to have a go. Further info to follow. Stay Safe!
