Yes I would love to go to that airfield with a camera, notebook and pen, but I nearly threw up when they stood on top of that pylon.

I have heard of these groups before they call themselves "urban explorers" basically they trespass on military property/structures and hope to get away with it.
I followed the exploits of a similar group called Urbex, they were less fortunate and got apprehended at Shyroke. They also got into, and successfully explored the abandoned Buran (Russian space shuttle) facility in Kazakhstan complete with a Buran that was never used. Their videos are a great watch if you can stand the suspense.
One of their videos inspired me to find the farmers' field in Papa, Hungary with 36 jet fighters abandoned on it. (See NWAN "Seen further afield - overseas" Papa, October 2019).
The irony is you can visit Shyroke legitimately, if you contact the right people and hand over some dollars. Having been to Ukraine it is a paradise for Soviet era wrecks and relics hunters but very risky.

I have watched the Buran excursion too - very interesting video (these guys are much braver than me ). There are some good ones around the urban exploration of Chernobyl too "Having been to Ukraine it is a paradise for Soviet era wrecks and relics hunters"
agreed, and the growing hobby of acquiring bits of decommissioned aircraft has reached the Ukraine now. I have got keytags made from Il-76, An-12, Yak-40 and Tu-154B skins from a retailer in Kiev. cheers JD

The Buran video is very good, don’t think I’d have the bottle!
Ukraine is definitely an interesting place - the Chernobyl tours are amazing

I think I'll pass on that one. I do not understand why Google needs to know so much about me before I can watch a video. And I certainly have no intention of giving them a credit card number. or other contact details. The US knows enough about us all as it is through their bases here - they don't need any more.
