My friend and former neighbour at Atlantic Air Park, has returned to live in the UK for family reasons. He was very very sad to sell up here, but even more sad to discover he can not find hangarage for his gorgeous Cessna 170. See picture. For the moment this machine is with me here at AAP but he is looking for space in the UK. He lives near Chichester. The obvious place is to base a Goodwood, but there is no space at the moment, and even when space becomes available, he will have to vacate it about three times a year when the hangar are emptied for motoring events. So, does anybody know of hangarage within a reasonable travelling distance of Chichester? Please don't answer with suggestions as to what might be available. Only reply if you are certain that space is available because we have already enquired at all the obvious places. You can reply to me through this forum or direct to my friend Brian Richardson at brainr5@me.com.. (And yes. This is a correct spelling ) NB Brian is a fully qualified FAA Engineer and Inspector, so the site that welcomes him will have an asset in their midst. Thanks in advance. Tell your friend to try Redhill Airfield or Biggin Hill Airfield Ron. Hope this helps. ☺

Hi Ron, My sister lives a few miles west of Chichester, so I am somewhat familiar with the area. I imagine that whatever hangarage there is in that region, it will be expensive. Places like Shoreham and Goodwood certainly are. Lee-on-Solent might be less so, and is quite active in developing general aviation. Popham and Blackbushe are possibilities too, but are further away. East of Brighton is Deanland airfield just south of Lewes. Sending messages to various forums might get some feedback and/or contacts. www.flyer.co.uk has a General Aviation forum where I have seen people requesting info for hangarage availability. Ditto with ukga.com/classified. The Light Aircraft Association have pilot forums on their website, as well as a monthly magazine with classified ads. You can look back at all of this year's magazines including ads. Including a photo of this beautiful aircraft might get responses from people who welcome classic aircraft versus bog standard Cessnas - sorry, no offence Ron. forums.flyer.co.uk/ukga.com/classifiedafors.com/www.lightaircraftassociation.co.uk/classifieds.htmlHope this helps, and hope you are doing well....Ian

Hi Ian, yes we are doing well. Hope you are too. Whether or not we get to go the USA this year is in the lap of the gods.
This exercise to locate hangar space has been a real eye opener. Even given that no space is available, the price being asked is up to £450 per month, and in some cases that's landing fees on top. Here in France, agreed we are near La Rochelle and not Paris, the rate being asked is about 120€ per month and even at la Rochelle that includes landing fees. (But not lighting fees if required, oddly enough)
Brian told me my house and hangar must be worth a million. Oh how I wish he was right about that, but it shows how much he values his former set up here.

To conclude this thread. My friend secured temporary hangarage at Solent until a Spitfire comes along to take up its slot in October It is hoped by then that a slot will become available at Goodwood, only 10 minutes by road from where he lives, although this has its downside because several times a year the aircraft are kicked out for motoring events.
He left AAP today on a 3 hour flight for Solent, in VFR but PROB/TEMPO showers and associated viz. and gusts etc.
Thanks again for your comments.
