I made my way to Leeming to catch the Yorknite Hornets yet again before they departed on the 10th...it's becoming a bit of an obsession! The rescue vehicles were called out twice to support a Typhoon then one of the Swiss Hornets - happy endings in both cases. First, the Typhoon - cause unknown: ZK382 Typhoon T3 emergency landing by Dan Sprague, on Flickr ZK382 Typhoon T3 emergency landing by Dan Sprague, on Flickr ZK382 Typhoon T3 emergency landing by Dan Sprague, on Flickr ZK382 Typhoon T3 emergency landing by Dan Sprague, on Flickr Soon after, an F-18 experienced what I believe to be a compressor stall on take-off. I may be wrong; perhaps someone with greater knowledge can correct me. Anyway, the symptoms were about ten "burps" of flame (not continuous) from one of the engines. The aircraft then circled the airfield at low level for a while accompanied by another F-18, then both climbed to a higher altitude to allow it to dump fuel prior to landing. The fuel jettison nozzles are near the top of both fins.
