The Admin of NWAN have been looking at where most interest is shown in topics on NWAN Forum and how some subject areas can be better served.
While the 'Movements' sections for Liverpool, Manchester, Hawarden, Isle of Man, Blackpool etc threads tend to be active for a couple of weeks, those in the Nostalgia section tend to revisited time after time and found by others on a 'Googling' a topic.
So a big re-work of the Nostalgia section is underway. I need to examine the contents of around a thousand threads entered over the past 13 years to find those that need to be moved around. That will take a little while, so I request your patience while the task is underway. I will also be editing out 'dead' posts where images have been deleted by TinyPics or Flickr and cannot be replaced and occasionally combining threads on the same topic.
A big, general tidy up and sort out to enable easier access to the varied and fascinating threads within nostalgia and memories. Hopefully topics will be easier to locate. For example Burtonwood used to crop up in the Liverpool and region memories, Manchester and region memories, other locations and also MAS/MSAE/MGAE memories (the last one being a major thread, rather than section). No longer, they are all together now.
WELCOME TO THE FORMER AIRFIELDS OF THE N.W. NOSTALGIA AND MEMORIES BOARD
Welcome to this opportunity to follow threads relating to aviation nostalgia and memories relating to former airfields in the North West. A number of threads, initially posted in other sections of NWAN have been moved here (January 2022) for easy access to memories, nostalgia and images of aviation and aircraft at former NW airfields such as Burtonwood, Stretton, West Kirby, Knowlsey Park, Inskip and Burscough airfield sites. Hooton Park is included too, both for historical posts and current preservation activity (of both hangars and aircraft). The closed NW airfields of Woodford, Sealand and Samlesbury are covered in other Boards for geographical reasons (consult the 'Home' page).
Unfortunately some of the older threads have been affected by Photobucket inserting a watermark over the photos. Unfortunate, but as the often interesting images are usually viewable I have moved the thread, the partial obscuring of the image is not the fault of NWAN or the original postee.
Use the board index and see what others have contributed. You are encouraged, if you have memories, nostalgia and especially images, to share these with everyone either as a new post on an existing thread, or as a new thread.
