Hi everyone.
You remember when we passed hours at a time on the balcony at Speke and every now and again one of the Colts would taxi across the main apron.
I am looking for a picture of such an event and believe it or not I do not see one in my collection and I don't readily see anything like this in Nostalgia.
Would anybody out there have a photo like this to let me share? I am writing some memoires just for my family and would like to include this pic in the section on what it was that caused me to take up flying.
If not a Colt something else single engined like a Cessna I have lots of photos of GO and other Colts but none on the main apron.
Thanks in advance.

I remember those days in the early 60s very well. I thought I must have a photo of GO or KN, but I can’t find one either.
FYI, GO is currently in the hangar next to my aircraft at Shoreham awaiting restoration.

Hi Bob,
Yes, received those pictures. I have them on my wall at home. Very nice they are too. The subjects occupy much of the frame I am looking now for something which is more evidently the aircraft taxying across the Apron, perhaps with another aeroplane in it or the signals suare or soemthing like that. The kind of view we have all seen a thousand times.
Thanks for your reply.
Ron

Thanks. That's a good thread and some nice pics on there. Not quite what I want.
Its very annoying that the image I want, is ( or was) in my own collection, but I just cannot find it. Maddening.
I obviously took it out and put it somewhere for a reason. !! Its not in its catalogued place.

I was there the other week and there was a type nearer the door with folding wings and checkered rudder pattern. Not even sure on type, had a vertical split rudder unlike a lot of DH designs, an Auster strung to mind noting the Cosford one has folding wings….. but mainly obscured from view. Cheers, Bob

Hi Bob
No. My choice of words was unfortunate. The hangar is next to my aircraft, the British Caledonian liveried G-CHIP. GO is in the hangar.
I think you went with Nick Ellis didn’t you to look at the Provosts, and I arranged for you to see the one located in the Transport Command hangar.
Cheers

Richard, you are correct re MrEllis. I suspected as such when you mentioned G-CHIP. I used to work with Nick on Virgin Nigeria. Thanks for the help with the Provosts, it was worth the drive from by Solent Airport where I now live. I don’t think the ex IAC one ever had a UK serial so it’ll be interesting what they do there when they finish the paint job. I have a photo of it at Shoreham from the late 80’s as 177 somewhere.
I did email Perry Air about the unid frame but got ignored.
