Something tells me in the past, there was a direct flight from Liverpool to Bari. I assume it was moved to another place.
I just returned to France from a wonderful holiday in Puglia using Volotea and Brindisi from Nantes Its high time this place was put on the Liverpool destination list. We enjoyed a fabulous time. Friendly people, eating well, always felt safe, nice weather. (We left home with no coats or umbrellas., Just light sweaters. Never needed more.) Amongst the highlights:- Lecce, Gallipoli, Locorotondo, Alberobello **, Trani, Monopoli. (Brindisi city itself holds no attraction. Bari is very good but not outstanding like the others mentioned.). Museums and churches galore. Some free. Some not. None expensive.
** Star attraction. Unmissable. Bit touristy morning and early PM. Later afternoons/Evenings very calm.
Eating was good and not expensive. A good plate typical 10/14€ . Menu around 20€. Even in the more upmarket white table cloth places, very affordable. I paid maximum 66€ for the two of us for four course fine dining with wine and apero. etc. Tip included but a few Euro left on the table is appreciated.
The flying experience, on board, with Volotea was great. Not so at the airport at Nantes. (See another contribution mine earlier.) Brindisi is a nice airport. Newish, moderately busy. Spotless. Well organised, although once again I discovered that buying priority boarding simply meant being first in the queue for another wait (weight) on your feet. Nice waiter service resto in departure lounge.
Ryanair seems to be the biggest operator at Brindisi. (ITA, Volotea and EasyJet, Eurowings and Swiss were the others I witnessed.)
