Back in the day, the Biggin Hill Air fair was an annual event. One of the objectives was to make the aircraft accessible to the visitors. A laudable aim but not great for photography. I have no idea for how long this event persisted. I certainly remember being there in 1963, 1964 and 1965. Here are a few shots from 1964. My first visit to Biggin was late 1950's. It was still then an RAF base, albeit in a very non active role. The civilian side was very active with all you can imagine. Tigers and Moths of every type, Stampes, Austers of al kinds, Miles, Turbulents, You name it. Not a Cessna in sight. Oh how I wish I had those photos, but at least I learned a valuable lesson. Never lend your negatives to anybody, and especially not if they have a mother who persists in tidying up their room, regardless!
