EAST MIDLANDS AIRPORT & AEROPARK COLLECTION
Friday evening 1st and Saturday morning 2nd September
.Friday evening 1st and Saturday morning 2nd September
As I got rather caught-up in recording subsequent adventures around Spain, Italy and Malta, reports and photos from the final days of my 'road
trip' around some of Britain's many aviation museums never got finished. So, in an attempt to put that right a thread for East Midlands Airport & Aeropark.
Long time since my previous visits to EMA (likely as far back as 1998 and 1990). The passenger and cargo side of the airport's activity has grown considerably in that time. I did not bother with the terminal side of the airfield, heading for the north side fence. Here I found the side road around a Pub leading to the north fence, which has plenty of parking space on either side and the start of an official footpath around the north perimeter outside a high wire fence. My little camera fitted through the wire well, but was a little difficult to pan comfortably. I was lucky with 09 being the active, as the action was all at that end.
We need to take the JLA management team to EMA to show them just what could be possible when enthusiasts, aircraft watchers, airport, landowners and local council have the will to work together. A popular location with both local families and dog walkers.

ENTHUSIAST'S SPOT & AEROPARK (when open) PHOTOGRAPHY POINTS
Although taken from the top of a set of VC-10 steps (so over the top of the tall fence) of the Aeropark, this does show just how good the view over the 09 end of the runway, the DHL freight terminal and airport passenger terminal (off the left side of the photo) is. However, the UPS freight apron at the east end is part hidden in a dip.
Signage on the fence at the crash gate end of a lane and along the public access footpath along the fence, which stretches for some distance.

Beechcraft 400XP N719EL right on the moment of touch-down.
Eastern Airways ATR-72-600 G-CMEI said to be in a new Eastern colour scheme. In my view somewhat anemic in comparison to some of their eye-catching blue/red schemes in the past, although certainly better than a 'polar bear'! Landed the evening before, departed Saturday morning, so I would guess on a football team charter.
In amongst all the widebodies, Donington Aviation 'Donair' survive, and looks insignificant in comparison.
Airbus A.330F D-ALMA landing 09 as seen from the Aeropark banks.
The DHL Boeing 767-300F with a 'sticker' style registration N6383 was one of the few aircraft also seen the evening before. Only just removed from the British register, previously G-DHLR. The Boeing 737-400F is G-JMCV of West Atlantic
Citation 525B CJ3 D-COGA of Excellent Air landing. Again as seen from the Aeropark.
A slightly unfortunate registration on this clean Boeing 737-8 of Jet 2, G-DRTI. Again shot from the Aeropark.
