I already wrote about my dreadful outbound. For the benefit of others. The inbound was better. The new terminal C at MCO is very well organised, calm and pleasant. Terminal C is also the terminus of the new hi speed railway from Miami in a really smart station. Soon the line will extend to Tampa and the local Sunrail service which runs through Orlando City from towns in the north and the south, will link up with the airport. Icelandair check in and boarding was very good. Thr Max 800 to KEF gave adequate leg room but narrow in the beam. For this reason I would avoid in future although in every other respect it was all good with good service. Keflavik airport we were bussed. Smallish rather tired terminal, but calm and clear. Mighty mighty expensive. Cleared Shengen passport control here in a rapid and calm.fashion thus avoided the stampede followed by long wait normally experienced at CDG. Hated the Ryanair style queueing at the gate only to get on another bus. The old 757 gave us a great and comfortable ride to Paris where the pilot performed a perfect greaser in very challenging conditions. No passport control as previously mentioned. Bags delivered in 30 minutes. This was in the original terminal 1 " roundhouse" which was eerily quiet and calm. We are staying the night at The Holiday Inn Express before taking the train to Lucon ( home) tomorrow. This hotel is reached by using the unmanned train service called CDGVAL and a very short level walk. We finally admitted to ourselves we have reached a point where we need to take it easy. Our next trip will be by one single direct flight to Miami then the fast train up to Orlando, possibly staying overnight in Miami. We had a great month with daughter in rural Lake County not far from Orlando, it was worth the trials and tribulations of the outbound journey. Lots of aviation interest there, of which more later.

Totally agree Ron, a simple direct flight is far easier. Maybe less interesting bit less hassle.
